Maximum weekly compensation rate. The most amount of money an injured worker can get per week when receiving workers compensation loss of earnings benefits. In the calendar year 2000, the maximum weekly compensation rate was $611.

Medical benefits. A worker who sustains a work-related or illnesses injury is entitled to medical benefits, including payment of surgical and medical services provided by a doctor or other health-care provider, prescriptions, hospital treatment and services, and necessary supplies, orthopedic appliances, and prosthesis.

Motion. An application made to a judge for the purpose of obtaining an order directing some act to be done in favor of the party presenting the application.

Moving party. The party presenting a motion or, in workers compensation cases, the party presenting a petition. Compare with non-moving party.
