Pennsylvania Work Comp Checklist

What To Do if You’re Injured on the Job

You’ve been hurt in an accident at work. Now what do you do? The actions you take after a work accident impact your ability to collect work comp benefits and payments.

Steps every injured worker should take after a work-related accident or illness:

Checkmark Immediately report any work-related injury or illness to your supervisor.
Checkmark Make sure your employer documents the injury on an accident report.
  • You have only 120 days to tell your employer about a work injury.
Checkmark Get medical help as soon as possible.
  • If your employer posts a list of company doctors, you must see a company doctor for the first 90 days of treatment. After 90 days, you may choose your own doctor.
Checkmark If the doctor places you on medical leave, you should be able to collect work comp payments after 7 days of missed work. If your work comp claim is denied, you should talk to a work comp lawyer about your options. Need help? We can give you a free legal evaluation of your work comp case.
