Pennsylvania Workers Compensation Legal Center

About Your PA Workers Comp Judge

The workers comp judge reviews your claim

After your PA workers comp claim petition or reinstatement petition is filed, the Bureau of Workers Compensation usually assigns your case to a judge in the county where you live.

Once your case is assigned to a judge, everyone involved in your case is informed of the date, time, and place of your hearing. At your PA workers comp hearing, the judge reviews your evidence and your employer's evidence. More than one hearing is required.

What happens next?

After the judge issues a decision, one of the following situations will occur:

  • Everyone involved in the case agrees with the judge and the decision stands. You do not need to do anything else.
  • Someone involved in the case does not agree with the judge's decision, and a workers comp appeal is filed.
