PA Workers Comp Payments for Specific Loss

A workers comp payment for specific loss is paid in one lump sum. The amount of the payment for specific loss is based on the area of loss.

Parts of the Body That are Eligible for Specific Loss Payment
Hand Eye Great toe
Forearm Thumb Any other toe
Arm Index (First) Finger Complete loss - both ears
Foot Middle (Second) Finger Complete loss - one ear
Lower Leg Ring (Third) Finger
Leg Little (Fourth) Finger

A math formula is used to determine how much you'll get for your payment. The amount for a lost body part depends on:

  • What part of the body has been lost.
  • How much of the body part has been lost. If you lose half of a body part, you receive half the amount of the specific loss claim. There must be bone loss in order to receive partial payment.
  • The number of weeks you were off work for the injury.

Taking a Pennsylvania workers comp payment for specific loss might affect your payment for lost wages. A specific loss payment is not like a scar payment which is paid in addition to payments for lost wages.

Our firm strongly urges you to talk with a PA workers comp lawyer before accepting a payment for specific loss.
