Types of PA Workers Comp Payments
Pennsylvania workers comp covers most injuries and illnesses caused by a
work-related accident.
As the injured worker, you need to prove that you have suffered a
work-related injury or disease. Once proven, you might be able to
collect one or more of the following workers comp payments:
-
Payment for medical
bills. These payments cover the cost of any medical care needed to
treat your work-related injury or illness.
-
Payment for lost wages
. These payments help you while you are unable to work due to total
disability or partial disability. The payments are a percentage of
your previous wages.
-
Lump sum payment.
This is a one-time payment for workers who have been off of work for
at least 4 months. Before agreeing to this payment, you should talk
with a work comp lawyer.
-
Payment for scars.
This payment is for an injury, or any necessary surgery, that caused a
scar to your head, face, or neck.
-
Payment for specific
loss. This payment is for the loss of a body part such as a hand,
finger, or leg. The amount depends on what body part you lost.
-
Payment for death
benefits. If a worker dies from a work-related accident or
illness, family members who are dependent on the worker might receive
payments.
The only injuries that might happen in the workplace that are not
covered under Pennsylvania workers comp are:
-
injuries that are intentionally self-inflicted, including suicide
-
injuries that are caused by your own intoxication or illegal drug use
-
injuries that result when a co-worker attacks you for personal reasons
-
injuries that result when a third person attacks you for some reason
not related to your job
-
injuries that are caused by breaking the law
